Weapons are now soulbound after I make them!?!

I recently became a Weaponsmith and after making my first new weapon (Light Earthforged Blade), I went to the Auction House in hopes of selling it. Stunned, it came up saying that it was soulbound, even though I never picked it up. Confused, and concerned (thought I did something wrong), I went and spent the time (a long time) to make a second weapon (Light Earthforged Axe). As soon as it was made, I checked my inventory and scrolled over it to see "SOULBOUND". Is this what happens when you start to speacialize? I have no problems making lesser armor or weapons and going to the AH with them. So why now? Any help?|||Quote:

Some things you make aren't bind on equip, but bind on pickup. In these cases, picking up equals making one, thus they become soulbound to the played that made the item. Never been a blacksmith si I wouldn't know if everything is Bind on Pickup, but I'm thinking they are. Be careful with what you make next time.|||Quote:

Through level 260, I never had an issue. Now that I trained to become a Weaponsmith, apparently the weapons that i make (and can only make) at that level are soulbound when I make them. I can make a Shinning Silver Breastplate which is also "rare" (Blue name) and I have no problem with selling it at the AH. Maybe it's becuase it's a standard item for a low level Blacksmith (versus a specialized Weaponsmith). I'm wondering if this is inherenet to the specialization level & equipment, which would mean that other professions (Jewel crafting) would also have the same pitfalls? That is if they actually have levels where you can specialize at.|||some items are soulbound to you when you make them. i know pretty much every trinket a jewelcrafter makes is soulbound. this is, for some reason, to give incentive for someone to pick a profession. but sometimes it just makes it a headache for them as they cannot make any money off of it.

and yes, the light earthforged blade and axe are bind on pickup. so you only make it if you need to use it.|||Quote:

DOH!! Well that answers that. Much obliged!!|||poor you, you cant even disenchant them either :(|||You can avoid this in the future by checking the pattern/recipe... if you mouse over the recipe icon near the mats list it will show you the tooltip for the created item. The tooltip for some created items says Bind on Pickup and those will bind to you when created

This isn't tied to the level needed to create an item or the item's level or rarity btw.|||Quote:

Actually they can if he's a blacksmith/enchanter.

And on a side note, even enchanters have certain enchantments which they can only perform on items, which will end up soulbound to them by the very casting of the spell. Thinking of the enchantment to boost rings.|||A lot of professiosn have got BoP epics at the higher end of their profession, or specilisation, these noramlly take a lot of materials but are very useful, for example the primalstrike leatherworking set. It is listed in the recipie if it is BoP or BoE so you just need to be more careful in future.

Best of lucl|||Yea I remember my first crafting profession on my mage and I tried to sell Robe of Power on trade chat.
