Alt charaters professions questions?

Hi, I have one of my alt charaters, a Blood Elf Mage, as a Tailor and Enchanter. Not sure how much I will play him. It got me wondering.

First, with professions in general, how does level of the charater relate to level of the profession? So can I have a low level charater (or one I am not leveling as fast as my main charater) be able to keep raising his professions skills, but say his level is not really going up? Are some professions more dependent on charaters level than others? If level has to go up to become higher in the profession, what are the important levels? Oh if there is a web page that breaks it down, please let me know.

Now also I was wondering, can a character with 2 professions use stuff from a character with two other professions? So if I have my tailor/enchanter, and an miner/engineer, can I send one bombs while the other enchants and make some clothes? Is it just at the super high levels that this is an issue, or it is pretty random? Are some professions are more usuable by other professions, than others? If there is a site on this, please let me know. From looking on the web, it seems that most don't touch on it. Unless it is not an issue and pretty much any professions can use any other professions stuff?

Thanks.|||Levelling professions can depend on your character's level, indeed. If it's a gathering profession (skinning, mining, herbalism) then your level doesn't matter, but for the crafting professions (i.e. all the rest) there is a minimum level requirement to learn the next rank. It goes like this:

Apprentice (0-75): lvl 5

Journeyman (75-150): lvl 10

Expert (150-225): lvl 20

Artisan (225-300): lvl 35

Grand Master (300-375): lvl 50

In other words, if you want to have a character of level 25 that knows enchanting, it will never be able to get any higher than 225. If that's sufficient to you, then it shouldn't be a problem.

As for transferring crafted goods to others, that's absolutely possible. Do watch out if the other character can use the items though, because professions such as engineering require a certain level of that profession to be able to use it. For the rest it's simple, as you can use your main to craft cloth items with tailoring for, say, your low-level mage.|||Quote:

Awsome, that's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks alot.|||Misinformation sucks. Enchanting cannot be used for your other characters. Anything worth crafting is bind of pickup. Please dont give him the answer he is looking for. It will kill him in the end.|||Corga,

Yes, misinformation does suck. So please don't do it.

There are several good pieces for clothies that can be tailored at the mid-levels. For a frost mage the Frostweave set is pretty good and some of the other patterns were useful to my shadow priest as she levelled. Even when they're not the best thing for that slot, crafted items have a HUGE advantage - they're a sure thing. You don't spend days farming some instance for a drop or gold buying things off the AH.

Similarly some of the LW patterns aren't bad as you level. Even at 70 there are excellent patterns that make things that are BoE. But

to the OP

Enchanting can be useful for your other toons in the sense that you can DE things that get as drops or that they craft. For example my rogue is a 375 enchanter. My priest is a tailor. As I started to make green gear on the tailor I could send it to the rogue and DE it for mats that I could reuse or sell. You can't enchant things on your other toons though, so it's not useful in that sense and enchanting an item binds it to the enchanter, so you can' make something, enchant that and send the item to another toon. Of course, you CAN make it, send that toon the item (assuming it's BoE) and have it enchanted by someone else.|||Quote:

Has this been a 2.4 change or something? Because I've been enchanting dozens of BoE items for alts and had no problem to send them back.|||Quote:

Wait, so pretty much whatever my enchanter enchants, he is the only one that can use it? So I can't have my other alts send him armor lets say, he enchants it for the +'s, and sends it back to the alts for them to use? Thanks.|||As far as I know, the ONLY enchants that bind the items are the ring enchants. And that's because they're meant to be for the enchanter only. There might be others like that, but I've never had problems with normal enchants. So as long as the armor is Bind on Equip, you can mail it and get it enchanted.

I just did a quick google search for the ring enchants, and it seems they specifically state the item will become soulbound. So as long as the enchant doesnt say that you should be safe.
