stuck at first level blacksmithing!

I am a level 21 Mage with 70 mining, i have learned the initial blacksmithing as my primary profession but cannot move on from here, whenever i request training from the trainer it says all training levels including Journeyman are unavailable.

On my skills page it says i am blacksmithing level 1, and my spell book says i am an apprentice blacksmith. I have both ore and stone in my bag.

Am i missing something silly???!|||yes you are.

go to the MINING trainer and learn Journeyman MINING.|||Quote:

yes you are.

go to the MINING trainer and learn Journeyman MINING.

?

I don't understand this answer.

Anyways. Train how to make something.

Then go to a forge and smelt some ore. (A mining skill.)

Then, buy a hammer, go to an anvil, and start making things!|||he has stone and ore. he's a miner.|||Ah. He's asking how to move on in Mining, not blacksmithing. I get it.|||but he thinks its blacksmithing. but that's my assumption, from what i've read and can piece together. surely, i can be wrong, but lets see what the OP has to say before we go further! lol

but what i can say is... at 70 mining- go to the mining trainer to train mining to journeyman. =]|||sorry i seem to have confused everybody. I am already a journeyman miner and have 70 skill, I haved trained in smelting also. The problem is i cant get past skill 1 in blacksmithing. When i ask a trainer there is nothing listed as "available" to learn.|||Make some of the starting blacksmithing items (Copper bracers, copper chain pants, rough copper vest, rough sharpening stone and rough weightstone). You should have these in your blacksmithing crafting panel. If you don't then you either need to learn them from the trainer or you havent actually become a blacksmith. You'll need the relevent ingredients and a blacksmiths hammer to make them.

Every time you create one of these items you should see your blacksmithing skill go up by one level.

Once you get to lvl 15 blacksmithing you can learn the next recipe (copper mace). At lvl 20 you'll learn Copper axe and copper chain boots. And so on and so forth.|||Quote:

ah i totally understand now.

you're mistaking smelting as a blacksmithing skill when its not.

smelting is a miner's skill and should not be confused with blacksmithing.

what you DO need for blacksmithing are the BARS made from miners. these things will allow you to level up your blacksmithing (BS). also, making stones into grinding stones also help. so open up your spellbook (press P) and find the blacksmithing icon. Click on it and you will see what you're able to make.

remember, miners mine ore and smelt them into bars.

blacksmithers use the bars to make other items like mail and plate armor, keys, rods, shield spikes and weapons. they also make accessory items like belt buckles. but they use items like copper BARS. so make the bars first, then make items with the bars. this will level up your BS.

edit: you will need to be near a forge to smelt and near an anvil to make anything blacksmith related. also, look in the AH for a pick/hammer. it functions as both a pick for mining and a hammer for BS-ing.|||Quote:
