Hi,
Is there a general list of values of gems made by JC'ers?
I know ever economy is different, but im sure there are items to make that are of more value than others. this is important especially when im working with an uncut gem worth 40 gold, i'd like to make a cut that's worth 60 gold instead of 45 gold.
additionally, i've seen some recipes like, Solid star of Elune going for a high amount, but i also see that the gems made are only marginally profitable. is this normal in other servers? or is this just something i see in my server that makes little sense?
for the JC'ers, what gems have you cut that made a bit of money?
and what do you prospect that will give you decent returns on investments?
im thinking also mercurial adamantite might make me some money. lastly, is making brilliant glass worth the materials used?
thanks all! i just leveled up JC last weekend and am not sure what to do now! haha.|||I really hope your not on my server ; I'm not actually a jewelcrafter but I did all the research for blue gem prices on my server after prospecting a bunch of cheap ore. Veiled noble topaz's go for 10-20 g more than the uncut gem (veiled= 4spellhit/5spelldmg) and almost always sell. It's probably slightly different by server, but I'd say pick a particular gem you want to sell then look up all the different possible cuts on the wiki then go to the AH and search each cut and compare the prices compared to the uncut gem. I've been buying out all the under priced fel iron ore to help my buddy in rl level his jewelcrafting as well. If I get a living ruby off of it or a noble topaz that pays for 3-4 stacks depending on the day and it's alot of more fun than selling ore.
Green gems go for a couple gold all the way up to 8-9g for the red colored green quality gems( can't remember the name). Those as well as the flame spessarites and the purple ones sell really well on my server and tend to go for the highest prices.|||Right now the big money maker in my server is the Wicked Nobel Topaz (60-70g). Also, if you buy Skyfire Diamond at the AH (they usually run 150-200g) you can make meta gems and sell them for a good 300-375g which makes a hell of a profit and lvls up you JC if your not maxed out yet. As for those blue gems, most of the time its best to sell them uncut depending on the market. I sometimes see the uncut gem worth more and other times it not so really its all on the market. Try not to overload the AH with the item. If you see that there is alot of a specific item, put it in your bank till next time|||i kinda had an issue with the uncute gems costing more than the cut ones, especially the gems i cut to level up from 300 to 350. but other than the jagged something something worth 1.5 gold, i found that a solid star of elune (everyone needs stamina right?) is worth about 10 gold less than the uncut star of elune. that makes no sense to me. i basically would waste 10 gold on each cut. i fould that "reckless" gems are pretty high in price (due to +haste/+spell damage) and im trying to service that market.
i'll look more into meta gems. i think i was adverse to it because of the costs (175gold) for a single skyfire or earthstorm diamond. im still pretty new to the gem business, but i know one or two that are decent money makers, but i still dont know why some gems (+crit/+hit) would sell for so cheap, in my server anyway.|||Quote:

It could be that in your server that specific gem is overloaded in the AH. A lot of times people will continue to auction off items even though they make no porfit just so they can get rid of them which results in a very poor market. It also results in the item itself loosing demand. Once an item is up for so long with a specific price other sellers will give up holding on to it and lower the price even more. Its really just the luck of the market. Hey but dont worry WOTLK will be out soon and most ppl will be using new characters (DK) and the market should go back up to compensate for those who arent selling anymore due to playing their new toon...
(sorry if i confused you, i was working and had to switch back and fourth between my work and posting)
