hmm...mats price list

Do any of you keep some kind of list for your materials with what kind of prices you can expect to get from them and you might sell them for? I don't think it's possible to memorize it all hehe.

I'm thinking of making a spreadsheet, example

Code:
mat.........vend price..."willing to buy" AH price...selling AH price...supplier price
silv.leaf (coppers) 1.10 1.50s and up 1s

willing to buy AH is basically the max value at which i buy if i need some.

selling is what i ask in AH after checking on the other auctions to see if there appears to be a demand

supplier price would be the price I can get from a player supplier, this may end up being a range

I responded to a person in trade wanting to sell his services as herb gatherer and it got me thinking about the need to keep some kind of list so I would know what to offer and what would be too much

any thoughts?|||Quote:

Get Auctioneer. Seriously.|||yep go get actioneer pack that should cover everything you need|||the problem with the spreadsheet is that every server has its own "economy". and to make it even more complicated, every economy has its own fluctuations on a daily and weekly, and even monthly basis. you have to check out the AH and get a good feel for the prices in the server. go to the AH and scan it with auctioneer. it will be your best friend when gathering prices and things. when you hover over an item, auctioneer will tell you what it has seen in the AH, and how much each can be sold for.

i personally do not use auctioneer anymore, but go with prices that i see currently. this is because the economy is always shifting, and prices today may not be the same prices next week. do i want to wait a week to see if the prices go up on something i want to sell today? no. so i price things for the market at the time i want to sell something. i find that to be a lot easier than using auctioneer. however, auctioneer is good for checking to see if i am getting uberly ripped off in a deal or not. if i need a skyfire diamond, and someone is selling it for 200 gold instead of the usual 160 gold (for example), then i'll have to evaluate whether having it "now" is worth paying an extra 40 gold. ok.. enjoy the game!|||i use auctioneer as a guide to auction fluctuations as well its a great money maker keeping track of prices and buying low but it does take a bit of effort and you need good cash to speculate with|||ahh...hm

First of all to clarify I was not suggesting or asking for a "price guide." I am just wondering what other players do to keep track of what they are willing to pay, the vendor price, and what they feel is a fair price and what other info might be relevant.

Second, does auctioneer know what items are actually selling for?|||Quote:

Auctioneer (and Enchantrix if you get the package) are very handy just for pricing. As El said, if you use Auctioneer and scan your AH to get a good database started, just mousing over an item will give you the NPC vendor price, as well as a high and low suggested sale price and something like "average last 10 sale price" (can't remember the exact wording but it tells you what the item has been going for). The Enchantrix part will also tell you what an item will disenchant into and it's disenchant price based on the mats it will yield.

Your other question...no. No add-on or spreadsheet or even the trade channel will accurately tell you what items are selling for on the AH unless you GO to the AH and look or scan it. The best you can get is someone in Trade who is actually offering to buy item xx for price yy. (Which can change from day to day)
