Best Professions?

what would be the best professions for a mage, im thinking tailoring and enchanting, what do you guys think?|||Those are basically the "bread and butter" professions for any cloth-wearing class, meaning you can't go wrong with those. Tailoring is self-sufficient as your main materials (cloth) drop from humanoids, and it can grant you a nice pool of green items to disenchant.

Earning big money with those professions is not easy though, as you need access to rather unique recipes to be able to earn real money with enchanting. Tailor-made bags sell pretty well though, so do enchanting materials. Making low level green items with tailoring, disenchanting them and then selling the disenchanted materials you don't need to level your enchanting with usually brings in a slow, but steady flow of cash.

In short, you can't really go wrong with those two, just be aware that you won't get rich as quickly as you would with taking up gathering professions.|||Tailoring definately, but if you're quite new to proffesions and everything in general then I wouldnt go with Enchanting because it might be a bit challenging to skill up and gold consuming. So in that case I'd rather go with Tailoring + Skinning.|||if this is your first character, then enchanting might be a pain, as you cannot really gather a bunch of mats without either farming it (green drops you DE) or by buying the dusts, essences, and shards from the AH.

as for tailoring, you just have to collect enough cloth from humanoid mobs to make bolts, then make your items. also, if the items you make is "green" or better, then you can disenchant those too.

what i've seen that works best is to simply wait until 70 to level up enchanting, and here's the reason why. unlike many of the other professions, you just need simple reagents (dust, essence) to level up. make sure you have enchanting rods for each level. find a guide online and see what you can enchant that will give you the most skillups for the least amount of gold. then buy your mats and enchant the same thing over and over again until you get to your desired skill level. with enchanting, there is no real gathering, there isnt really anything being crafted. its completely different from the other professions. ok. good luck!
