2nd profession at 40+

[:1]Hey guys, as a few of you know i only started wow a few weeks ago, anyway my warrior is lvl 42 atm close to 43. My mining is 225 and i currently have 400g.

However being the idiot i am i canceled my 2nd profession skinning, which was 211. Now im regretting it since i don't know what to pick, im starting to think maybe having 2 collecting skills at 200+ on a new character might have been good.

Should i get skinning back and work up from beggining? or maybe choose another prof?

Thanks for the help guy.

1. The two gathering professions until endgame for the liquid cash school of thought. These players will tell you to have two gathering professions until you reach level cap, to finance your leveling through the sale of mats, and only at level cap, drop one to pick up an appropriate crafting skill, while keeping the gathering skill that feeds it. (mining and blacksmithing, mining and jewelcrafting, skinning and leatherworking, tailoring and enchanting, herbalism and alchemy, herbalism and inscription, mining and engineering, etc). Unless you're willing to waste a ton of bag/bank space along the way, you'll either end up buying mats for your final crafting skill, or endure the embarassment of being a level 80 trudging around the baby areas picking up stuff.

2. The choose the crafting skill you're going to want at end game, and level this and its complimentary gathering skill as you level school of thought. Less liquidity as you level, but does save you from having to glut out mass amounts of low level items once you get there.

Like I said, each of the above has its proponents. Just choose which you feel is the most logical, because there is no tried and true must do with this one.|||I suppose you're right, I think i'll stick with 2 gathering professions and then change at lvl cap. Argh... Just the thought of starting skinning from level 1 again makes me shiver, lol. Thanks.

It's far easier to do it that way. I've just got my level 80 Gnome Death Knight to 465 in Engineering in a matter of slightly over a week. He's also a miner, so it was really easy to do. And now I'm working with a level 68 Human Warrior to level him up in Blacksmithing. He's near 400 in mining, had got to the same level in Herbalism, but I dropped the herb thing to do this. And again, it's going really quickly.|||If your server is like mine, low level skinned products, particularly medium leather, sells pretty well. So it's not quite so bad. Pain, yes, but still could be lucrative.

I never said that was the right way. Actually I put forward the two ways you could go, gave pros and cons, and suggested you choose between them.

I'm one of the second school of thought, who suggest you pick a crafting profession and the gathering profession that goes with it. But that's simply my outlook on this.
