Northsea Pearls

Looks like I'll be needing these to level up my crafting skills and I wanted to know the best way to farm them.

I looked up on a data base and it said to go to the murlock guys near the western starting area. So far I haven't found any.

It also said it was a 100% drop from the Brooding Darkwater Clams. I found two of those suckers and neither of them had a pearl inside.

Any help would be great.|||Ahlurglgr the clam vendor in the northeast corner of borean sells them, they have a 1 hour respawn timer, and he only has a quantity of two upon respawn.

You can get them from murlocs and darkwater clams, the drop rate just seems to be not so good.

Finding another path to skill up might be the ticket.

What point range are you trying to skill up tailoring?|||I dont' remember offhand, I'll have to check after work, but I need those darn things for my tailor and my leather worker. They are over 400 right where the greens end and you need to start making blues to make an orange item.|||Sounds like another blizzard roadblock so taht a profession can't be power leveled in one day.

Good luck bud, I can't think of any way to speed up acquiring an item with a tough drop rate.

Let me know your range and we'll try to find another path.|||I would check the AH. I know that I often pick up one or two doing the Frenzyheart daily that has you kill 50 or so Oracles, and I have no use for them. (I've also had people ask me if I wanted them to send me the ones they had collected, so I know I'm not the only one going "what do I do with these?") I've also picked up some from clams while fishing in the starting zone.

Although, I would check about the recipes you are using for leveling tailoring. I'm at 435 without ever using a pearl. (The real roadblock for tailoring has been the Infinite Dust for the imbued cloth. I need the dust for Enchanting. Apparently, tailoring sucks for a pair to level Enchanting in the expansion.)|||I got most from the clam vendor in the Murloc camp, in the north end of Borean Tundra. You just walk around the area where the hostile Murlocs are, and pick up the Winterfin Clams that you can easily loot from the ground (just hover over any inconspicuous looking grey blimp on the ground, plenty of them will turn into little cogwheels). If you kill a few of those Murlocs on the way then you might also get some of those clams as drops, which is a nice added bonus. I ran around this place a bit with both toons that I quested there with, and got the necessary 30 clams pretty easily. Heck, on my Rogue I quickly had enough to buy the leather eyepatch, and a Northsea Pearl, AND a Siren's Tear.|||My tailoring is 390. I could make some yellows but cloth is so hard to come by for me that I'd hate to waste 8 bolts on something and not get a point.

Last night I tried farming these things. I got 90 clams but there was some competition for the pearls so i couldn't buy any. I did get one from a lucky darkwater clam though. I'll just have to keep checking the vendor at odd hours of the day.

Thanks for the help!

* thought of another question. For the vendor, when I'm waiting for the pearls to appear in his inventory can I leave the window open or do I have to exit and refresh it to see them?|||Quote:

same here.

and you have to reopen the window, it will not refresh automaticaly.|||I get one or 2 per day doing the frenzyheart dailies. You either have to kill 30 or 50 of the oracles depending on which quest spawns that day. They drop the clams about 10ish percent of the time and the claim have the pearl ever once in a while.

There a ton of em in the sparktouched area. Round up 10-12 at a time frost nova blizzard. they respawn quickly (sometime even before you can loot all the corpses).

If you time it right your frenzyheart friends even help hold aggro while you nuke em.

Z.
