I have a mage with mining and tailoring and a paladin with engineering and enchanting. I plan on training my enhancement shaman/combat rogue and would like to know what professions to choose for them. (Would not like repeating choices unless it brings good items/gold) I was thinking herb/alchemy for one of them. Thanks!!|||Herbalism/Alchemy is always a nice choice, as you can make pots for all your other characters.
What you could keep in mind, is the bonuses that certain professions bring. My rogue, for instance, has herb/alch and I really welcome the bonus healing I get from Lifeblood and my Endless Healing Potion - I'm using both regularly while questing, and it has saved me a fair amount of healing pots and bandages already. Also, skinning gives +crit, which is nice especially if you go muti - I don't know how nice crit is for an enhancement shammy, but that could be soemthing worth considering. Then you could pick up lw on the side and make items for both your rogue and your shammy.|||Quote:

Skinning and leatherworking tend to go well. +crit is extremely important for an enhancement shammy as it helps keep flurry up and also helps with WF procs - a Windfury crit proc can do some serious damage...|||In WotLK, every profession brings something to the table.
Engineers can make epic BoP goggles and engineer only BoE trinkets, and also tinker their cloak, belt and gloves for enchant-like effects.
Blacksmiths gets access to extra sockets on their bracers and gloves.
Leatherworkers get cheap self-use-only versions of the leatherworking leg enchants and self-only bracer enchants.
Inscriptors get self-only supercharged versions of the shoulder enchants.
Jewelcrafters get access to BoP trinkets, with sockets, and INSANE BoP gems.
Alchemists get the Alchemists stones (BoP of course), and mixology.
Tailorers gain cheap self-only versions of the tailoring leg enchants, self-only enchants on cloaks and flying carpets. They also get access to Cloth Scavenging, allowing them to loot a LOT of extra cloth from mobs.
Enchanting gives self-only ring enchants.
Mining gives Toughness, for extra hp.
Skinning gives increased crit rating.
Herbalism gives Lifeblood, a self-only heal over 5 secs with a 3min cooldown.
Think that's all of it.

Actually, that skill is pretty overrated. Yes, I occasionally get 1 or 2 pieces from a mob that a party member could loot, but that's about it - the amount of Frostweave that drops compared to something like Netherweave is pretty pathetic, even with that skill tailors get.
I think that for your Rogue and Shaman, you might want to try herb/alch for the Rogue and skinning/lw for the Shaman. That way your Rogue can benefit from the extra healing (Lifeblood and Endless Healing Potion, as well as the enhanced healing you get from Mixology and the stone trinkets) and make potions for your other toons (mage and pally also). Your Shaman can benefit from the extra crit that skinning gives, and make nice leather items for your Rogue too (especially now that the WotLK high-end items are all BoE).|||I think that skill becomes more valuable as you level. AT least I've noticed more cloth on looted mobs, esp in instances, in the high 70s. I ended up with 3 stacks today out of s bit of questing and one reg UK. A couple of levels ago I noticed I'd get several (up to 7) FW sometimes... which is a difference from NW... I don't remember ever getting more th an 2 and usually 1.|||I have to agree with clevins. The FW seems to be dropping at least one from most humanoids. The proc might only be obvious in an instance or with a party but I wonder how many of those mobs I'm looting with 23s and 1 FW would have only been 23s without the cloth gathering skill.
