[:1]Hello. A character I am creating is a Dwarf Hunter and currently has Mining and Engineering as it's professions. Which would you say is better though in terms of earning money and creating cool stuff? Also, which one makes things that are the most relevant to Hunter? I like being able to craft my own bullets at the moment with engineering, but just want some input from some more experienced players. Thank you.|||in terms of making items, blacksmithing is absolutely useless to you. at end-game though, it does make quite a bit more than engineering, but mostly just benefits plate wearers. I'd stick to engineering personally.|||Stick with Egineering, lots of fun stuff to be had.|||Ok thanks for the replies :)|||Quote:

Engineering's more fun (at least, I think so) and makes some useful items. One thing that spoils sales a bit is the fact that much of what you make can only be used by other engineers.|||There's some pretty cool stuff to be made with Engineering, and worth some surprises in PvP, if you are on a PvP server.
Useful stuff:
Parachute Cloak: (and later on Flexweave Underlay) saves you from fall death.
Land mines, grenades, rocket launchers, exploding sheep, and so forth.
Then at higher skill levels, there are the epic goggles and the motorcycle/flying machine. Both are epic mounts.|||I like engineering a lot but it is very seldom useful in making money. There are lots of useful items for most any class to be had in the engineering profession. One thing overlooked in mentioning engineering though is the possible rez status following a feign death due to jumper cables. For some folks, that alone makes engineering the profession of choice for a hunter.
On the other hand to say Blacksmithing is useless to a hunter is slightly off also. For leveling purposes, there are several variations on sharpening/bludgeoning stones which add to the damage potential when forced into close combat. There are suits of chain mail to be made, some for shamans yes, but also some for hunters. At the high end, there are extra sockets available. Finally, the items made leveling up BS are likelier to be of sale value on the Auction House.|||Are there Blacksmith recipes for mail armour post level 40 ? I thought only Leatherworkers could make 40+ mail ?|||Leatherworkers don't make mail.
...ummm... wait a sec.
*goes to check*

instead of taking blacksmithing for the weapon sharpeners which you will barely use, go for engineering to make the scopes to fit to your ranged weapon which you will use. blacksmithing was designed for the tanking classes (warrior, pally and DK), and leatherworking was designed for hunters, shaman, druids and rogues. the only advantage to taking blacksmithing as a profession on a hunter is being able to make your own weapons, but these are mostly rubbish and you find much better things in instances and on the AH.
