[:1]Hi guys,
Having a hard time on deciding my hunter's professions. Ok frist off I have two other alts that do herb/alk and Leatherworking/skinning. Right now my hunter is 61. The professions that he currently has are minning and engineering. I am not really sure about engineering. Ok I don't really have it too high right now but I am starting to wonder if it's worth it. Just that you have to go out, farm your materials, then in one explosion it's all gone. Well when I first took it, it was with the idear of my hunter being an offensive powerhouse, just not sure now. Only reason I could keep it is if there is somthing worth while in the expansion.
Ok if I dump it, what to go with? I do have a 240 enchanter (DK but just not into him, I like ranged classes, got him to 59 that's probably as far as he goes). I have a lot of mats so I probably can get it up fast. Maybe inscription, since I have a herbalist (maxed it out). Or is there something else I should consider.
Well any advice would be great.
Thanks.|||well eventually, with engineer, you get to make the motorcycle mount, that might be worth keeping. only thing i can really tell ya, is search for the proffessions and see what they offer, then you can decide.
i was gonna stop doin tailoring til i saw (after searching the recipies) that i can make a flying carpet mount (slow to epics ones) now i am excited to keep goin with it.|||I think the first question you need to ask is what do you expect from the profession? Do you just really like crafting things? Did you take the profession only thinking it would be useful in some way? Would you rather be able to make all of the odd bits that you need for quests? (One in Borean Tundra requires an item people were hawking in /1 for 25g-35g).
As a hunter, the guns, scopes, special ammo, ammo machines and such you can make would be quite useful. Less so the bombs and such (though years ago I had a pally goblin engineer when pallies didn't have enough damage).
If anything, I'd say take inscription with your DK. Just send herbs to mill, log on once a day to research the minor glyphs (20 hour cooldown), and then make scrolls to enchant for your alts.
Depending on your LW level, if you are going to drop Eng on your hunter, I'd keep mining, if you're past 250, and take skinning. Make leather armor for your hunter. My rogue fared well in the crafted sets through Outlands and Northrend. If your Mining is lower or your LW toon is not Outlands levels yet, I'd consider dropping both and taking skin/LW so you can outfit yourself. Northrend LW does have a number of self only armor "kits" (search for fur lining or Jormungar Leg Armor). There are also a number of professions bags (mining, LW, inscription) you can make that are in demand, and ammo pouches/quivers that often sell well.
Lastly, you can just keep with what you have and just sell the ore you mine on the AH. Maybe bark in /2 that you have ore to sell or smelt, to the customer's preference.
Hope that helps some. I've been thinking the same thing, that professions just aren't worth it. Then someone wants to have something crafted, with their mats, and they're willing to pay quite a bit for it. Makes me wish I'd gotten those last 7 or 9 skill points and gotten that pattern.|||The BC eng epic Goggles are nice. I have a level 70 Dwarf Hunter w/eng at 360ish or so. The only thing I have made that I use a lot are the epic goggles and the jumper cables are nice. I have heard that in the Wraith that eng is pretty lackluster. The pocket knife is pretty sweet, though. I do wish that the pocket knife had a fishing pole..........|||I use Skinning and LW at lvl 43. Should I move to Mining/Eng at some point? I'm enjoying LW atm, especially since I got Dragonskin LW. But Motorcycles, Goggles and Bullets seem more useful. SHould I change over?|||Quote:

My hunter took Engineering because of many useful and fun items such as Truesight Ice Blinders, Gnomish Army Knife, MOLL-E, Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, Field Repair Bot 110G.
The goggles with mote extractor are excllent to make money.
You don't need to be an engineer and you can buy and use the Mekgineer's Chopper, Ultrasafe Bullet Machine and Nesingwary 4000.|||Quote:
